Into the Soul

Look deeper, beneath the surface.

Visualizing the Universal Mind

Windows to the soul

Evert A Robles creates art inspired by universal consciousness: Evolution of human consciousness within its universal context. The symbolic universe he has created is a cultural synthesis echoing both the past and the future. Stretching our imagination by challenging us to look deeper; beneath the surface, into the Soul.

Background

“I’ve been drawing as long as I can remember”. Robles is born in Suriname. After living in the Netherlands, Germany and the US, he 6 years later, at the age of twenty-one, moves from Fort Lauderdale, Florida back to the Netherlands, settling in Amsterdam, where he currently resides.

In 1993 he makes his solo debut with exhibitions at 2 galleries in Amsterdam's Canal and Jordan districts. Next to in the Netherlands, his work has been featured in galleries and art shows in Spain, Italy the US and is represented in several international art collections.

Media

Robles uses various media: Acrylic painting, drawing, graphic art, photography: photo-montage and hand coloring, video, graphic design among others.

Broader view

From 2007 to 2013, Robles takes a sabbatical leave. Temporarily shifting his focus to graphic design, web development and marketing by going into business with his late father.

'As being a full-time artist is the first thing I always identified with, I had to rediscover myself; find the person behind the artist. While simultaneously seeing more art than I ever had, and for the first time in a long time just enjoying it – without trying to see what I could learn from it. This broadened my horizons by awakening a deeper appreciation for the arts. And, as time progresses, the urge to create art kept growing; drawing me in closer as only first loves can.''

The breakthrough finally comes in 2014 when Robles, rejuvenated and full of inspiration once-and-for-all faithfully returns to his first love by producing a wide ranging body of new work. From 2017 he creates a new series of paintings in acrylics on canvas.

Conscious evolution of spiritual man

On a quest to portray the universal mind, Robles creates archetypal imagery with spiritual evolution as a central theme. The female figure, housed within various scenarios, is often used to convey emotional states and evolutionary stages of the human experience.

Conscious evolution of spiritual man is a central theme in Robles' work. Settings are neither fixed in time nor space. This transnational identity is a new and powerful theme definitive of a twenty-first century experience. Robles offers his unique symbolism as a positive contribution to this global process.

The Universal Mind

“We are all simultaneously connected to each other and to everything throughout the Multiverse – through the Universal Mind (or Universal subconscious mind, Universal consciousness or God). The Universal Mind connects us as our infinite Higher Self guides us to become its physical manifestation.”

Creative visualization rooted in Universal consciousness bring to light intuitively felt imagery channeled to reveal a glimpse behind the veil. The narratives of Robles’ visual stories aim to reveal essence through funneling – in a process of alternating creative and intuitive analytical phases. The quest is to give form to the formless by intuitively capturing the human journey.

Viewers are encouraged to find their own meaning and relevance by deciphering the displayed narratives. As the work is intuitively felt and often ambiguous in nature, sourced insights depend on the observer’s development and state-of-mind.

“The goal is to inspire people to find meaning and relevance by becoming mindful of, and strengthening, their connection with the Universal Mind. The ultimate goal is that these image portals can serve as a gateway symbols. Functioning as keys to open new doors, to proceed to deeper levels in the Soul’s labyrinth: To assist viewers on a karmic quest to resonate in higher frequencies – and to see if and how their perception of the work changes as they evolve.”
